Samara Weaving has been cast as Holly Madison in an upcoming limited series about her time as a Playboy model.
The series is based on Madison’s memoir, Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny, according to TV Line. It will be adapted by Australian writer Marieke Hardy.
Weaving, an Australian actress, started her career on Home and Away in the ’00s before moving to the US to pursue her acting career. In the past few years she’s gained recognition for her role in the film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and in the Netflix series Hollywood.
Her role as Madison will, according to the synopsis, go “beyond the polished facade of the Playboy brand to depict the visceral, often deeply damaging stories of the women who entered following a dream and found themselves manipulated, controlled and abused by the machine.”
Madison was a well known Playboy model, starring in the 2005-2009 E! reality show The Girls Next Door, which followed the exploits of several Playmates living in the mansion with Hugh Hefner.
In her tell-all bestseller, Madison discussed her first hookup with Hefner. “I have never had a more disconnected experience,” she wrote. “There was zero intimacy involved. No kissing, nothing. It was so brief that I can’t even recall what it felt like beyond having a heavy body on top of mine.”
There’s no timeline yet for when this limited series will be released –– Weaving is currently in Australia after filming Nine Perfect Strangers with Melissa McCarthy and Nicole Kidman.
