Brian Austin Green shared a cute snap of him and his three sons to his Instagram page, though he probably didn’t expect a cheesy selfie would attract hateful comments.
In the photo his three sons –– Noah, almost 8, Bodhi, 6, and Journey, 4 –– are in the back seat of Green’s car, and it’s captioned simply: “Target run.”
Within hours, the 90210 actor had to defend himself and his kids from the mean-spirited comments on the photo about the length of his sons’ hair.
“I’ve read some of the comments here. I’m not saying anything is right or wrong. I think some people with different opinions are attacked because opinions usually start with the words ‘I think’ or something similar. When people state opinions as facts is when arguments happen,” Green wrote in the comments section.
“The fact is my boys have and like long hair,” he continued. “In my opinion they are beautiful and will still be and possibly be mistaken for girls if they wore matching short and tshirt combos and had short hair.”
“Some people like boys and men with long hair. Some people don’t. Both opinions are ok,” the actor added.
Green shares Noah, Bodhi and Journey with estranged wife Megan Fox. He also has an 18-year-old son Kassius, from a previous relationship with Vanessa Marcil.
In the past Fox has also battled trolls who criticise her sons’ hair and outfits. “I let my kids wear what they want!,” she said in 2018. “They will tell me what they are. It’s not my job to teach them that.”
“I thought it was illegal, honestly, to shame a child or shame a mom for what a child wears… in 2018,” she exclaimed.
Fox is now dating musician Machine Gun Kelly, though Green said earlier this month that he’d be open to reconciling his relationship with the actress.
“I kinda feel like people are on paths in life and sometimes your paths are together and you travel that path together and you see eye to eye and then sometimes paths do different things,” he said on Instagram Live. “We had an amazing 15-year relationship. We have three beautiful kids.”
“Do I like Megan’s new man?” he asked, reading a fan’s question. “I’ve never met him, I have no idea.
