Dominic Purcell has been a close friend of Hugh Jackman before either of their careers kicked off.
Their friendship was formed as young actors while studying together at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and is still going strong, with Purcell, 50, sharing a tribute to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine star in an Instagram post on Sunday.
The Prison Break star shared a throwback photo alongside Jackman, 52, and Aussie cricketer David Warner, 33 — and revealed the cheeky nickname he was given by the Sydney native.
“Hughy @thehughjackman one of my dearest friends on earth,” he captioned his post. “He loved calling me #bignut (head size) I’d always reply ‘least everyone can see my f–kin head.’
“We both trained together at #dramaschool. He hasn’t changed one bit. Him always smiling and basically being a beautiful human. I haven’t changed. I’m still angry and grumpy.”
Purcell jokingly added, “Who’s the fool in the middle oh yeah I remember now I believe it’s @davidwarner31 one of #australias great cricketing batsmen and possibly the smallest to ever play the game.”
“Big head @dominicpurcell you make me laugh,” Warner replied in the comments.
Purcell is set to star in Season 6 of Prison Break as Lincoln Burrows. No official release date has been announced, but production is already underway.
Purcell assured fans that Prison Break Season 6 is definitely taking place, addressing a number of rumours about himself and the show in a since-deleted Instagram selfie.
“Rumour number 1. I’m old. Yes. I’m 50…..” he captioned the post. “Rumour number 2. I’m bald. No, I have a full head of hair; the people demand I shave it. Rumour number 3, Will season [Prison Break] 6 happen. Yes….. Rumour number 4. Do I like humans? No. Not on mass. Definitely not.”
