Whoopi Goldberg has opened up about her dating preferences — and it looks like she’s not leaning towards young folks.
The 65-year-old dished on her relationship preferences on Wednesday’s episode of The View, when the EGOT winner and co-hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and guest co-host Cindy McCain discussed age gaps in relationships. Watch above.
“Whoopi, do you go younger or older?” Haines asked.
“It depends on my mood,” Goldberg answered quickly, before explaining her reasoning in depth.

“It’s about the person,” Goldberg continued.
“Sometimes you meet somebody who is younger than you and… look, it would be perfect if everybody was well-matched and well put together, but they’re not. And you find it where you find it, and it may last a long time or it may not.”
Goldberg then recalled a specific incident that skewed the age range of her dating preference when she was going out with a younger man.
“Let me tell you why I stopped doing lots of things with younger folks,” Goldberg said.

“I went out with a younger dude and he said, ‘I can’t believe this.’ I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ He said, ‘I did not know that Paul McCartney had another band.’ And you kind of go, ‘The Beatles? You’ve never heard of The Beatles?’ ‘No!'”
The Sister Act star said if she goes into relationships with younger people, it’s with the understanding she may have to spend that time brushing up their knowledge on certain phenomena.

“So you have to know when you’re going younger, there’s a lot of information that you have to impart. And sometimes it’s tiring,” Goldberg said.
“But then there’s the other way where you’re like, ‘Yeah, you’re younger, but you look good! Yeah, you’re alright.’ So you never know.”
Goldberg has been married thrice — first with Alvin Martin, whom she divorced in 1979 after six years of marriage. The former couple have one daughter together, Alexandra, who is now 48.
The Ghost star then married David Claessen in 1986, whom she divorced in 1988. Goldberg’s marriage to actor Lyle Trachtenberg ended in 1995.
Speaking with The New York Times in 2016, the comedienne said she’s happier on her own.
“I can spend as much time with somebody as I want to spend, but I’m not looking to be with somebody forever or live with someone. I don’t want somebody in my house,” she told the publication.
